The Twitter shadowbanned tag feature has been announced by Elon Musk.
He confirmed this enhancement on Friday, Dec. 9, via his official Twitter account.
"Twitter is working on a software update that will show your true account status, so you know clearly if you've been shadowbanned," said the billionaire via his Twitter announcement.
His tweet was able to garner over 360,000 likes, 46,000 retweets, and 6,000 quote tweets.
Twitter Shadowbanned Tag Feature Confirmed!
According to Engadget's latest report, being shadowbanned has different meanings depending on the social media platform you are using.
When a user gets shadowbanned, their posts will be less visible (sometimes even non-visible) to other users.
Other individuals will have a hard time finding your account on Twitter, Facebook, and other social media platforms.
Based on these details, shadowbanning is partially blocking user accounts. Usually, you will not be informed if your account has been shadowbanned, making it difficult for you to fix the issue.
Musk wants to change this situation by launching the new shadowbanned tag feature on Twitter.
Here's how this enhancement can help Twitter users in the future.
How Twitter Shadowbanned Tag Works
The upcoming Twitter shadowbanned tag feature is a new tool that will inform users that their accounts have been shadowbanned.
Musk said that it would also show the reason why the shadowban has been implemented.
Aside from this, the new Twitter feature will also give users instructions on how to submit an appeal.
Thanks to this, users can fix their shadowban problems easier and faster.
Although the new Twitter enhancement is useful, many people are still unsatisfied.
In the comment section of Elon Musk's Twitter post, some users asked why the billionaire has to launch the new feature if he promised he'd decide who would be shadowbanned.
Other Twitter users said it would be best if they were the ones deciding who gets shadowbanned; by blocking or muting other accounts.
In other news, Elon Musk confirmed that suspended Twitter accounts will receive general amnesty.
We also reported that the Twitter paid verification subscription will not yet return.
