Google Wallet is set to finally offer Digital ID and Driver's License Support alongside its December update.
The Google Play System December update will reportedly bring a new beta feature for the Google Wallet, according to Huawei Central.
Based on the most recent details, users will be able to access digital driver's licenses through the Google Wallet beta functionality. In other words, the Wallet app on Android devices allows you to store your ID or license card safely. This improvement will eventually improve consumer experiences with smart car-related operations.
Google Wallet to Launch Digital ID and Driver's License Support
According to a report from XDA-Developers, Digital ID and driver's license functionality for the Google Wallet app are mentioned in the partial changelog that Google has made available for the December 2022 Google Play System upgrade. Only digital IDs and driver's licenses from a few states will be supported when Google launches these features in the United States.
This function aims to provide consumers with a digital and safer experience when using their ID and other informational cards. The feature is currently only being introduced in a few US states. However, in the near future, we might see additional regions achieving this trait.
The changelog, however, does not mention the states that will be incorporated into the beta version. When digital ID and driver's license functionality launches in the beta channel in the upcoming weeks, users can anticipate that Google will provide more information.
