Honda Expands Sensing 360 Technology, Claims To Become Driver-assist Standard in US by 2030

It looks like Honda's Sensing 360 will get an upgrade.

Honda revealed plans to expand its Sensing 360 technology to all Honda and Acura models in the U.S. by 2030.

According to Just Auto, Honda aims to increase the functionality of its latest safety and driver assistance systems, Sensing 360 and Sensing Elite. Honda recently announced its plans to expand the capabilities of its previously announced Honda Sensing 360 and Honda Sensing Elite advanced safety and driver-assistive systems.

The Honda Sensing 360, an omnidirectional safety and driver-assistive system, will reportedly receive new features to lessen the workload of Honda drivers by letting the system recognize anomalies in the driver and environment around the electric vehicle to help avoid accidents.

Honda To Expand Sensing 360 Safety and Driver Assistive Systems

According to Honda's official press release, in order to expand its technology throughout the Honda ecosystem, Honda has recently revealed its plan.

Car and Driver report that Honda is getting ready to make significant changes to Sensing 360, its driver-assist system. Sensing 360 technology was initially made available in the United States back in 2014 when it was added to the 2015 Honda CR-V. Additionally, the system was given a separate version, AcuraWatch, for the 2015 Acura TLX.

The vehicle company plans to expand Sensing 360's capabilities to China in 2024 to "further reduce driver burden by detecting abnormal conditions occurring to the driver and the vehicle's surroundings and reducing the risk of collisions."

By 2030, Honda plans to introduce the new Sensing 360 system in China and, eventually, the whole U.S., where it will become the standard system for all models worldwide by the next decade.

Additionally, Honda will also be releasing the next-generation Sensing Elite technology, which will utilize artificial intelligence (AI), which evolves and gains knowledge via experience for driving duties, including hands-free driving, automatic parking, and getting the car out of the garage by itself.

However, Honda has not provided details regarding the release of the updated Sensing Elite as of writing.

Honda's Vision of Driver Safety With Sensing 360

Honda has been vocal about its vision to promote "safety for everyone" and is actively trying to increase road safety for all drivers. By 2050, the company wants to eliminate all fatal traffic collisions involving Honda cars or motorcycles worldwide.

Notably, Honda is in charge of two of the most advanced crash-test facilities in the world, which are located in Ohio and Japan.

The company's latest safety advances reflect Honda global CEO Toshihiro Mibe's global vision to achieve zero traffic collision fatalities involving Honda motorcycles and automobiles globally, as well as promote carbon neutrality for its products and corporate activities by 2050, according to Rider Magazine.

The company claims that it will "continue to lead the industry in this era of carbon neutrality" with the goal of becoming carbon neutral for all of its operations by 2050. While introducing new electric cars, the business will keep improving its internal combustion engines (ICE).
