YouTube Music 2022 Recap
YouTube Music will be offering a personalized retrospective for its second year of releasing a Recap feature. YouTube stated on their official blog that the music streaming application will be more immersive than last year's, as it will be including a 'Top Trend' tab that will be showing artists you discovered first before others, 'Identity' that gives users a music personality based on their listening habits, and 'Hard-To-Find Content' that features remixed and live performances that are only available on the app.
The report also stated that Recap will not be exclusively available on the Youtube Music app, but also on the main YouTube app by just searching '2022 Recap'. A Recap playlist will be popping out to the screens where it will be featuring stories banners and personalized stories.
"We know that many people also enjoy music on YouTube, creating a seamless listening experience across both apps. That's why we're taking the YouTube Music Recap experience from last year and bringing it to the main YouTube app, allowing for even more users to connect with their personalized playlists, stats, and shareable stories," YouTube stated.
Integrating Google Photos
Aside from the statistics mentioned above, TechCrunch reported that shareable cards will also be in the Recap that highlights the users' top songs from each season of the year.
While the 2022 Recap will be available for both apps, this feature will be exclusively available for YouTube Music.
Google Photos will be integrated into the application and users can choose to personalize it by adding their own images directly from the photo app.
Through this, it will combine your top music for the season and photo memories that will give you a taste of nostalgia by looking back to the year, as reported by Engadget.
YouTube Music's Competitors
For the past years, Apple Music has only been releasing custom playlists which have not had a major update since then. Now, the Replay feature got an update this year as Apple redesigned the app with more data-heavy shareable features like personalized highlights real of the users' top songs, albums, artists, genres, and more.
The Verge reported that Apple Music Replay 2022 is already available today via its website and application.
Meanwhile, the two applications are getting ahead of the game against Spotify since the application has not rolled out its "Spotify Wrapped 2022" yet.
However, an email was sent by the app to the users that says Wrapped will be coming soon which has been eagerly waited by its users.
