Twitter 2.0's latest offer for the public is the extension of its limited word count from 280 characters, with Elon Musk indicating that the company is working to change this experience and extend it for more words to convey. In this version of Twitter under the Chief Twit, it will extend up to 1,000 characters per tweet, and it is roughly four times the current maximum character count.
There are no announcements regarding when would be this feature's availability, especially in giving more leeway for the public to express themselves online.
Twitter 2.0: Elon Musk Teases 1,000 Character Tweets
Twitter may be soon getting an upgrade for its version 2.0 platform, and it centers on another expansion of the character count for every tweet, with the company allocating 1,000 for the public. John Kraus initially suggested this to Musk via short-word social media, saying that the character count should expand to 1,000 figures.
The tech CEO replied to Kraus's tweet, saying that this change is already "on the todo list," meaning that it was already something that Elon Musk has already been planning.
Nevertheless, Musk's previous tweet regarding the internal documents from Twitter also shows a "long-form tweet," and it may be related to this upcoming feature.
From 280 to 1,000: Twitter's Future
Twitter's future seems to be expanding, and this does not only apply to the other features coming to the platform but also to revamping its existing ones. Soon, the world may see 1,000 characters for their tweets instead of the previous 280, which is almost four times its previous limit.
The company initially only allowed 140 characters for a long time before it doubled its capacity.
Twitter and Elon Musk
Twitter is still the center of talks and controversies now, especially with the eccentric tech CEO leading the company who reveals much information regarding the company on his day-to-day. One of the many changes to Twitter is the "General Amnesty" decision that Musk has based on a poll, with previously suspended or banned users getting their platforms back.
Being Twitter's top executive and current owner, Chief Twit may do so as he pleases for the short-word social media, and it seems like this is what he is doing as its current leader.
Another feature coming soon for Twitter is the awaited encrypted DMs that would help Twitter users with their privacy online, especially with direct messages from one user to another. It is part of Musk's plans for Twitter 2.0, the new version of the social media platform that aims to better the experience for all, with its initial plans centering on the new Twitter Blue verification.
With Musk's recent screenshots he posted on Twitter regarding his presentation to the company's employees, these new long-form tweets are part of the Twitter 2.0 that he is building. Still, it is not exactly the long-form feature that he revealed before, as he claimed that people could publish news articles directly on the platform, with this upcoming change centering on extending the character count.
