And for the meantime, HBO Max shared a temporary workaround for the "can't play title" error as we wait for the rollout of its fix.
HBO Max is Working to Fix Apple TV 'Can't Play Title' Error
If you are trying to watch an HBO Max title on your Apple TV 4K, you might start experiencing a playback issue.
According to a recent report by The Verge, the error shows a "can't play title" when some HBO Max subscribers attempt to watch using their Apple TV 4K.
So if you are having a hard time streaming shows like "House of the Dragon" on the streaming device of Apple, it turns out that you are not alone.
The Verge notes in its news report that there seems to be a bug affecting all generations of the Apple TV 4K.
To be more precise, the HBO Max app 52.501 installed on the latest tvOS 16.1 is grappling with some playback issues.
The Senior Vice President of Communication of HBO, Chris Willard, revealed in an interview with The Verge that the streaming giant is already working to fix the playback issue.
Willard admits that the team behind the streaming service is "aware and working on a fix." Given that, subscribers could soon stream their favorite shows and films without hiccups on Apple TV 4K devices.
However, it is worth mentioning that the "can't play title" error can be addressed temporarily using some simple troubleshooting steps, The Verge reports.

How to Fix the HBO Max Playback Error on Apple TV (Temporarily)
The customer support of HBO Max disclosed a temporary solution to address that playback mess. But the catch is that users have to forego HDR streaming in the meantime.
The solution, which requires turning off HDR, has also been posted by a Reddit user.
And to do so, the Reddit post says that Apple TV users have to go to the Settings option. Then, head straight to the Video and Audio section, and select Format. From there, choose the SDR format, while disabling Match Content and turning off Match Frame Rate and Match Dynamic Range.
