According to Reuters, South Korean news outlets and media reported that there is a new weapons system in place to defend the airspace of the country from threats coming from North Korea. This is called the Long-range Surface-to-Air Missile (L-SAM) anti-ballistic missile defense system, adding to its current roster of aerial protection in its country.

The reports also claimed that this is in response to the recent incident of attacks from the North Koreans, where it fired off 23 missiles towards the South, regarded as the most it fired off against the country.

State media Yonhap News also shared a video of the L-SAM in action, showing off its capabilities and features for military defense in the airspace.

South's Response to the North's Attacks

The South Koreans are best known for being a Democratic country but are not pushovers against its neighbors and fellow countrymen on the other side of the Inter-Korean border. While South Korea does not initiate much aggression between both sides, it is still ready for any kind of attack, especially when it is about the safety of its citizens and land.

Weapons and Defense Systems

The tension between North and South Korea is not letting up, and the Korean Peninsula still sees division from either side's government as both show aggression to each other, responding to every attack. The recent tension at its famed demilitarized zone (DMZ), has both sides firing off warning shots at each other, but earlier attacks show missiles and artillery shells thrown against both sides.

With these incidents taking place, both sides attempt to show the might and power of each nation, especially with its long history of division on either side of the Peninsula.

The South Koreans are known to work with the United States for its defense and military advancements, also hosting America's famed THAAD missile system in its country. However, it was China who was threatened by this advancement and partnership, asking South Korea not to add more weapons to their current possession.

Military advances are crucial for both parties, with limited knowledge and information from North Korea as it remains a closed nation from the world and the media. South Korea's only hope is to prepare for the worst and bring its best defense forward, with preventive measures and defense systems taking place to protect its side and people.
