Elon Musk's Twitter patronage is not off to a great start, as when he thought giving the people the power to rule over social media would not blow up on him did when impersonations and fake accounts proliferated. Moreover, this means that the intended launch for "Twitter 2.0" is still on hold, alongside the return of the paid verification subscription for the blue checkmark.
Additionally, Twitter's plans to deliver end-to-end encrypted Direct Messages on the platform are also having hardships in its development, with Signal Messenger now confirming that it would not help the platform.
Twitter 2.0: Paid Verification Blue Checkmark is Still on Hold
Chief Twit announced the latest development for the Twitter Blue paid verification service, and he claimed that it is still on hold amidst this era where impersonators have the power to masquerade as the person they are copying.
Musk's latest statement shows that there are problems in taking down impersonators and their accounts, especially at this time when anyone can apply for verification with their subscriptions.
Moreover, the new CEO claimed that there will be different colored checkmarks on people's profiles, especially in discerning their affiliations, whether as a company or an individual on the platform.
For now, the initial November 29 deadline which he promised to relaunch Twitter Blue would most likely be delayed, seeing a later date this year before users may utilize it for their needs.
Twitter's Encrypted DMs Get No Help from Signal
On the other hand, Twitter 2.0's other features coming, like the highly anticipated Twitter DMs end-to-end encryption also unclear when it would be available from the platform. According to Ars Technica, Twitter would be seeing no help from Signal Messenger to develop this feature on the platform, and it means that Musk has to rely on the company's engineers or other companies to deliver this for all.
Twitter and Elon Musk
Twitter seems to be broken now, especially as people who need verification for their online personalities to keep their blue checkmarks and verify their identities are having massive problems now. Additionally, there were reports regarding full-length movies seeing uploaded on the platform, and was seen bypassing its copyright systems in place.
Musk initially claimed that the company is holding off the launch of the Twitter Blue paid service until November 29 as it needs more work, aiming to make this version better than before.
The problems Twitter is facing now are rooted in Elon Musk's plans for the company, especially in giving a version of the short word social media as a free platform.
However, it is struggling now amidst the layoffs, as well as the CEO's latest demands for longer hours of work for existing software engineers, particularly in Twitter's latest ventures it aims to deliver soon.
For now, it seems like Twitter users will need to wait for the company's delivery of the many services it promised, including the Twitter Blue paid verification services to obtain the highly coveted checkmark. Also, Twitter DMs with end-to-end encryption will take more time before they can deliver their secure messaging features on the platform.
