The NASA Opportunity Mars rover bid its farewell in 2018 when the remote-controlled robot millions of miles from home stopped responding and giving updates to its team. Now, an Amazon Prime Video documentary is coming to bring the world an inside look at this Martian mission, centering on the two rovers who brought the world attachment, in a film called "Good Bye Oppy."
This stirring documentary will soon drop on Amazon Prime Video, with the upcoming film's trailer already having viewers dropping tears and awe for one of the most iconic rovers on Mars.
'Good Bye Oppy' Coming to Amazon Prime Video Soon
"Good Bye Oppy" is giving the world an out-of-this-world story about the NASA Opportunity rover which braved Mars for 15 years, surpassing its initial expected operating years. It will arrive for streaming on Amazon's OTT platform, Prime Video on Wednesday, November 23, centering on the rover's incredible story and venture into an unknown world.
Amazon's "Good Bye Oppy" trailer released last month has people who grew to love this rover coming back and waiting for its significant story, one which happened on Mars.
The film will deliver different clips from the rover, as well as animated simulations of the Martian planet which Oppy once saw during his 15 years of service.
Remembering the Opportunity Rover Gets and its Story
Despite being a documentary film, the story is regarded to be a tearjerker, because it is about a rover that beat the odds and its intended timeline, centering only on a 90-day mission. However, since its 2004 arrival on Mars, the Opportunity rover operated for 15 years, finally closing the books on its mission and story in 2018.
Oppy faced harsh conditions on Mars, with several of those in its latter years thought to be its demise, with many challenges and obstacles it overcame.
NASA's Opportunity Rover and its Mission
NASA's Opportunity Mars rover is one of the most loved machines to set off on a mission to learn more about the Red Planet, with its original timeline only lasting three months of operations on the planet. However, the rover lasted more than that, beating the odds, design, and its purpose, continuing its operations for a massive 15 years in service.
There were many feats with the Opportunity rover from its original missions, and one is setting the record for the fastest off-Earth driving speeds, never before seen with any rovers.
The rover truly brought NASA many opportunities which helped it set the tone for future ventures of the companies with its remote-controlled operations in neighboring cosmic locations. It also once held the farthest distance traveled by an off-world spacecraft, beating the previous record of the Soviet Union's Lunokhod 2.
The opportunity gave the world a lot, and it expanded on the Mars missions that the world knows of, with its long years of service for NASA and its partners. Now, the documentary commemorating the rover centers on a deeper look at its operations, with "Good Bye Oppy" giving the world a heartfelt film to tell everyone its story and mission.
