Did Vecna just summon a creature from the upside down to haunt the Mississippi River?
A mother and daughter were out fishing on the River when they got too close to a large creature with enormous claws that resembled those of a bear, as reported first by LadBible.
In Minnesota, Shala Holm and her daughter Avery were out fishing when they heard breathing and suddenly saw a set of enormous claws hiding beneath their boat.
What is this Monster-Like Creature?
But worry not because this is not some kind of monster that will haunt those who visit the river. It is merely a snapping turtle, a reptile with a prehistoric appearance that is feared for its strong bite.
Shala calculated that the size of this snapping turtle was around 29 inches. She said that people kept asking her if she was afraid and admitted that she was upon encountering the beast-looking animal.
She was afraid because the turtle was so close to their kayak and anticipated that it might want to grab some of the fish that she and her daughter caught.
"I wasn't sure how I would get him off the basket. I was nervous about grabbing the handle of the basket, I wasn't sure how badly he wanted the fish and how aggressive he might be," the mother said in a statement quoted by LadBible.
The two managed to shake their basket free, and they were able to move away from the snapping turtle's reach.

Snapping the Snapping Turtle
They had not heard or seen the turtle again, according to Shala, until it was clinging to the basket. Despite her fear at the time, she was able to reach for her phone and snap a few pictures of the creature.
Shala was astounded by the massive size of the turtle's extended legs; she claimed that its feet had the same size as her fist. The mother was worried that the creature would try to climb up the basket with its enormous claws.
Despite being terrified of the animal, they went back the next day to take more pictures. Shala then forwarded the pictures to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, which informed her that the turtle might be around 15 years old.
Since snapping turtles can live for more than 100 years, there is a good chance that Shala will see the enormous reptile the next time she visits the river again.
