Apple iPhone 14 Pro A16 Bionic vs. Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

As per the latest report by Mac Rumors, the much-awaited benchmark comparison of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and the iPhone 14 Pro's A16 Bionic has taken place.

And it looks like the Apple chipset for its high-end flagship devices easily outperforms the processor for future Android phones.

The giant chipmaker for Android phones, Qualcomm, has debuted its newest mobile chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, early this week, Mac Rumors reports.

However, it is worth noting that the new processor is set to see the light of day in future Android phone offerings launching before this year comes to its final curtain call.

And as such, this new Snapdragon chip is expected to power the upcoming Android flagship devices. For the rest of 2023, most new phone offerings potentially feature this chipset.

Given that, an early benchmark test showcased how capable the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is. And to better put it in perspective, the performance of the new chip has been compared side by side with the latest chipset of Apple for its all-new iPhone 14 Pro.

Mac Rumors notes that the benchmark scores of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 falls behind the results of the A16 Bionic.

For the single-core test, the A16 Bionic garnered an 1874 score, whereas the new Snapdragon chip achieves up to 1874.

On top of that, the Apple chipset also outperformed the Qualcomm chip for the multicore benchmark test. The iPhone 14 Pro processor got a score of 5371, while the Gen 2 scored 4709.

iPhones vs. Android Chipsets

But it looks like the flagship Snapdragon chipsets have been lagging behind the performance of Apple even in previous versions.

According to a recent report by Mac World, the A15 Bionic and A14 Bionic easily outperforms both the Snapdragon Gen 8 Gen 1 and its Gen 2.

On the other hand, the multi-core performance of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 tramples the scores of the A15 Bionic and A14 Bionic.

Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Chip

The giant chipmaker for Android devices touts that the second-generation Snapdragon 8 processor brings roughly 35% more CPU performance and up to 25% GPU performance.

Not to mention that the new chip is supposedly more efficient than its predecessor.

However, it remains to be seen if these claims hold true as it has yet to debut on flagship Android devices.
