Apple's rumored iPhone 15 Pro models are reportedly featuring upgraded USB-C support that comes with faster transfer speeds.
It turns out that the faster speed is only seeing the light of day in the higher-end variants of the next-generation iPhone. That said, the standard options are expected to sport slower transfer performance.
Apple iPhone 15 Pro Upgraded USB-C Support
As per the latest news story by Mac Rumors, Apple is planning to debut the whole iPhone 15 lineup with a USB-C port, replacing the Lightning option.
The next-generation iPhone 15 would no longer feature Lightning cable support. Instead, Apple is finally bringing USB-C to its flagship mobile device.
However, according to the well-known Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is only introducing high transfer speeds for its more expensive iPhone offerings.
Kuo bares that the Cupertino-based tech giant is looking to debut the iPhone 15 Pro models with upgraded USB-C support. It means that the faster transfer speeds will only be exclusive to the more expensive variants.
The Apple analyst tweets that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are going to flaunt higher transfer speeds for their wired connection. However, it is unclear how fast the speeds would be.
But given that, it is supposed to be quicker than the USB 2.0 that the Lightning cable supports.
Kuo predicts that the transfer speeds could potentially reach as fast as USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3.
Meanwhile, Mac Rumors notes in its report that the upgraded wired connection should enable users to send large files in a shorter time. It is worth noting that USB 3.2 could transfer files at a whopping 20GB/s rate.
How About the Standard iPhone 15 Models?
Kuo says that the standard Apple smartphones, such as the entry-level iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, are also getting USB-C ports. But unlike their Pro counterparts, the wired transfer speeds would only be at USB 2.0.
So while these upcoming non-Pro iPhones are ditching Lightning support, it still performs the same.
Apple's First-Ever USB-C iPhones
According to a recent report by Forbes, the Cupertino giant has confirmed that it is introducing the first-ever USB-C iPhone.
The move is in compliance with the new law of the European Union requiring all mobile phones to sport a standardized port.
