Black Friday Sale is just around the corner, and some of us will surely be looking for the best entertainment systems. The Apple TV 4K (3rd generation) is unquestionably a contender, thanks to its efficient A15 Bionic Processor. But before buying, you should be aware that there is currently a bug with tvOS 16.1.
tvOS Storage Bug
As first reported in a review from FlatpanelsHD, tvOS 16.1 and 16.2 currently appear to have a bug that prevents users of a 128GB version of the Apple TV 4K from fully utilizing the storage of the device.
According to the review, the bug prevents new apps from being installed once the storage used exceeds 64 GB, even though the device supposedly has 64 GB more storage space to spare. Now, that's half the total storage that's unused.
Users who attempt to download a new app after the Apple TV has reached 64GB of used storage are shown the following message: "The app can't be installed because there isn't enough space. Delete one or more apps or manage your storage in Settings."

The same report tells us that the bug is not yet resolved, and there has not been any update on whether Apple has already acknowledged the issue. If you are planning to buy the device over the holidays, you might want to check first if it has already been patched.
What We Know
As shown in a report from MacRumors, users who are affected by the bug and have Apple TVs with 128GB of memory can try queuing up enough downloads collectively to push their Apple TV past the bugged 64GB limit. The error seems to only appear when you start a new download while your storage is above the 64GB artificial cap.
If you are concerned with limited storage, you should really think twice before buying the 3rd-gen Apple TV 4K. But if you are looking for a device that has a compact design and a faster processor, you could give it a chance. After all, it could be some time before you reach the artificial limit (It is just guesswork on our part, but the bug can be already resolved by the time you reach the cap). It is also not much of a problem if you are buying the device for its streaming capabilities.
More About the Apple TV 4K
In October, Apple unveiled its latest Apple TV 4K in an online announcement. The new Apple TV 4K astounded everyone, particularly with the Siri Remote, which now has a USB-C port to charge the device rather than a Lightning port.
Apple charges $129 for the WiFi-only variant and $149 for the WiFi and Ethernet variant. However, there is a catch for all interested buyers: both prices will include the same Apple package, which does not include the HDMI and USB-C cables required for the device to function.
