Waze Launches a Soccer Commentator-themed Voice Navigation in Time for the 2022 FIFA World Cup

Waze has a new treat for sports fans.

One of the biggest sports events will kick off later this month. The 2022 FIFA World Cup will be the first winter edition in the competition's history and will take center stage in Qatar. To celebrate this momentous event for soccer fans, satellite navigation software Waze is adding a soccer-themed in-car experience to the platform.

Waze Launches Soccer-themed In-car Experience

Just last month, Waze added fun to the spooky Halloween season with its "Drive with Zombies" themed voice navigation. After having a zombie as a driving navigation guide, the platform is now adding a voice navigation theme that involves the voices of iconic soccer match announcers. Now, drivers can make it to their destination like a soccer superstar (avoiding penalties, of course).

According to Phone Arena, this in-car experience's voice navigation comprises a series of iconic soccer commentaries. Waze even went so far as to have Luva de Pedreiro, a fan favorite and considered the most popular soccer commentator in Brazil.

Waze has already included several entertaining voice packs in its navigation software to make driving more enjoyable. We already have many voice packs featuring celebrities such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Morgan Freeman, and others.

This soccer-themed voice navigation pack will surely appeal to a wide range of sports fans. With stressful heavy traffic coming your way, make it a little less miserable by blasting a soccer commentator from the speaker as if you are some soccer star scoring a game-winning goal.

Waze says in a blog post that it is giving drivers all over the world a way to get close to the soccer action and represent their favorite team and country. Soccer, as stated by the platform, brings communities together in epic competitions that celebrate national pride and sportsmanship.

The navigation platform says that the new voice pack is inspired by soccer commentating styles from around the world to promote a sense of pride for soccer fans all over the world.

With the soccer announcer-themed voice navigation, drivers can expect lines like: "Take the first exit. Then it's onward to glory!" and "Hazard reported ahead. Getting through that defense could prove tricky." How cool is that?

According to a forum post, the voices will be available worldwide in English, French, Spanish Latin America, and Portuguese BR.

If the voices do not appear in your "My Waze" menu, you can locate the voice in the Moods and vehicle option in your app Settings.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup

The 2022 FIFA World Cup will be bigger than we think. With the pandemic affecting live sports events in recent years, soccer fans will undoubtedly seize this opportunity to witness the greatest soccer players give their all on the field.

Speaking of which, association football is currently the most popular sport on the planet. According to Topendsports, soccer has an estimated 3.5 billion fans, most hailing from Europe, Africa, and Asia.
