EasyGo has announced that they will invest in DC fast chargers in towns and villages in Ireland and will be located where old phone boxes used to be, as reported by Electrek.
EasyGo will deploy 200 Tritium 50 kW modular DC fast chargers in addition to their existing 2,400 charge points. The company has contracts to add Tritium chargers at 70 locations and they are also working with the local authorities to identify 130 more locations across the country at no cost to county councils.
Fast EV Adoption in Ireland
The rate of EV adoption in the country is growing quickly, and the addition of more EV chargers that are accessible will be helpful. In addition, this will help ease anxiety for new EV drivers, or even those who are planning to buy, because they will be able to access EV chargers easily. Rural areas in the country will also be equipped with more EV chargers.
The increase in EV adoption in Ireland is also part of their Climate Action Plan with a target of nearly one million EVs on the road by 2030.
One of the strategies to achieve this target is to invest in fast charging infrastructure. The rollout of DC fast chargers across the country will also help expand the network of chargers in Europe. The number of DC fast chargers in Europe is still very small, and with more investments from countries like Ireland, the network will grow.
The news of more EV chargers in Ireland is encouraging, with their new Climate Action Plan that focuses on sustainability and improving quality of life.
DC Fast Chargers will allow EVs to travel long distances without compromising on charging times. This feature is useful especially when driving on long journeys, commuting to work, or even just running errands.
An Excellent Move
The announcement of the new chargers in Ireland is just part of the massive expansion of the new generation of charging infrastructure in the country. The adoption of the chargers with more EVs in the country will lead to more EV chargers, which will help reduce the amount of vehicles on the road.
Charging stations in Ireland will eventually improve the convenience of charging for EV users and will help ensure that charging stations are accessible to all. For example, the fast chargers are not too far from where many people live.
EasyGo's expansion of the station to include around 200 chargers will help more drivers across the country. Towns and villages in Ireland will have EV chargers which can benefit EV owners. The expansion of EV charging infrastructure will also go hand in hand with their Climate Action Plan.
