Tesla China's Beijing Flagship Store Has Closed Down
As per the latest report by Inside EVs, the first-ever retail store of Tesla in China has closed its doors after more than a decade of operations.
It is known to be the flagship store of the giant all-electric automaker in the Chinese nation. It is located in the upscale shopping center in Beijing, which is the capital city of China.
The showroom of the Musk-led EV firm opened its doors to customers nine years ago or way back in 2013. However, after a couple of years, Tesla has decided to close it this October.
Tesla China has reportedly confirmed that it has already decided to shut down what is known to be its flagship store in the Asian nation.
And as such, according to a recent news story by Fox Business News, the two-story location is now covered with paper. It now also features advertisements of the upcoming retailer that replaces the American automaker in the location.
Inside EVs notes in its report that the giant EV maker boasts more than 200 showrooms in various parts of China. However, one of its biggest in Beijing has closed its doors.
The news outlet recalls that a previous report disclosed that the carmaker is planning to close one of its stores in an upscale location. And it looks like the EV maker has already decided to go about its plan.
Why Did Tesla Close its Beijing Flagship Store
Fox Business states that the Musk-owned carmaker is changing its strategy. This time, the giant firm is now looking to set up showrooms in locations that are more convenient to its Chinese customers.
The news outlet adds that the EV maker plans to open up more stores in more affordable suburban locations. So it only made sense that Tesla decided to shut down what was known to be its flagship store in a high-end shopping center.
