The innovative RV Pol Lux, created in Sweden, has a sturdy catamaran foundation, an electric drivetrain powered by solar panels, a deployable tent, a modular deck plan, and even a hammock lounge that can be used over water. It's a novel approach to sailing into the seas.
According to a report by New Atlas, the superstructure and hull were constructed throughout the summer, and last month, Pol had the formal Lux international debut in Stockholm.
Pol claims that the boat attracted a lot of attention at the event and later worked as a support boat for the TILL swim/run competition. It also made an appearance last week at the Hamnen Electric Boat Show in Stockholm.
However, New Atlas noted that the boat has not yet demonstrated its on-water camping capabilities in front of the public because Pol was still awaiting the completion of the tent fabric when the Lux made its debut.
However, the business has used the onboard 18 kWh battery to heat a kettle, The front-mounted hammock lounge on the yacht is now available for business as well.
The Lux Deck
The Lux deck has a modular sofa arrangement that converts into a bed at night, making it more like a camper than a normal catamaran. Sleepers are shielded from the outdoors by a tent that is securely fastened around the boat's roof frame.
The hammock, which attaches to the vessel's frame above the helm station, can be used by other overnight guests. New Atlas said that the Lux seems rather too cozy to fit anywhere close to its full 13-person capacity overnight.
Hence, owners of this boat might opt for daytime trips to host a bunch of friends and loved ones.
According to Pol, the Lux has a top speed of 20 km/h (11 knots), and its maximum range is 60 nautical miles (111 km/h) when traveling at a speed of 7 knots (13 km/h).
Lux Sun-sailing Mode
The electric boat can move forward at 4 knots (7 km/h) in sun sailing mode relying solely on energy produced by the solar panels mounted on the roof.
The Lux is being prepared by Pol for market debut, and Pol intends to sell it for a starting price of €99,000 (about US$98,650) before VAT.
The standard pricing will not include the tent material because the all-electric catamaran day boat might be attractive to be bought on its own, as per New Atlas.
In the upcoming weeks, Pol intends to settle on a price for that selection. Additionally, it is currently providing prospective customers with test drives in Stockholm.
