The U.S. Military and various government and commercial entities are testing Huck Cycles' Overland, an off-road-optimized electric moped.
Electric scooters are becoming more and more popular in militaries around the world, and the most recent development has seen both the U.S. Army and other entities testing Huck Cycles' Overland for tactical purposes.
Live Fire Simulation
The Overland was developed by Huck Cycles, a veteran-owned American manufacturer of electric mopeds with headquarters in Cornelius, North Carolina. Its modern design also commands a beefed-up Sherman tank.
Army veteran and company founder Brett McCoy views it as a chance to go back to his AirBorn Infantryman roots while still helping the country's military.
The U.S. Special Operations employed 2 Overlands in a live fire simulation. Its uses include the following: mobility cache; covert operations; remote deployment; border and perimeter patrol; air deployment; medical evacuating (using a rolling litter); and search and rescue.
Huck Cycles claims that Overland is distinctive in the field of electric mobility and offers great control in all riding circumstances. It was initially created for hunters, campers, and other outdoor lovers who wanted to use a powerful yet lightweight electric two-wheeler.
But now, the electric motorbike is venturing into the military's landscape.
Retro-Style Electric Moped
The Overland is a throwback in terms of appearance. However, this retro-style electric moped was designed with the demands of today's riders in mind, while taking design cues from the iconic minibike from the 1980s - the Honda Motra.
The predicted size of the global market for motorcycles, scooters, and mopeds in 2022 was 48.7 million units, according to Huck Cycles. By 2026, that number is expected to increase to 61.6 million units.
The company added that even women, both seasoned and novice riders, are embracing the trend by investing in up-and-coming models that also include retro-styled motorbikes.

Overland S
The Overland series is offered in conventional, off-road, and utility models. All mopeds can be customized to a great extent as well.
The foundational model of the series is Huck's Overland S. It is a full-suspension motorcycle with a wheelbase of 51" (129.5 cm), a weight of 145 lb (65 kg), and a maximum payload capacity of 275 lb (125 kg).
It also features 700 mm inverted forks in the front, and 320 mm shocks in the back of the vehicle.
The Overland S has a top speed of over 45 mph (72 kph), but only when it is in the off-road or private mode. Huck Cycles noted that three riding modes are available for the new motorbike.
Additionally, the Overland S electric motorcycle has a starting price of $5,800.
