Sony announced a new version of their Sony LinkBuds S-an Earth Blue variant-that is made from more recycled materials, as reported by Engadget.
The new version of the LinkBuds S are made from "factory-recovered plastic and reclaimed water bottles." Because of the plastic materials used for the LinkBuds S, it now has a marble pattern on its exterior surface.
The idea came from design exploration around new uses for recycled water bottles. Its main shell and the case have swirl looks due to the process and the lack of plastic.
What to Expect
Aside from being a more sustainable version, the LinkBuds S has ANC and transparency mode to let users tune out or tune into the world as they want to. It also has Auto Play that lets users set up certain times audio will start automatically. Sony's Adaptive Sound Control is also available in the new version of the LinkBuds S that can automatically change sound modes based on your location or activity.
In addition, it has six hours of battery life on a charge with ANC enabled another 14 hours in the case. Users can also wear them during workouts, thanks to its IPX4 protection. It also has a Speak-to-Chat feature that pauses audio when you start talking to assist with quick conversations.
Users can get their hands on the Earth Blue variant at the end of October from Sony, Amazon, and other retailers.

More Sustainable Tech
The Sony LinkBuds S is an example of another way technology is moving to be more sustainable. As tech companies are taking responsibility for their products' lifecycles, manufacturers are designing their products with more sustainable materials. It is expected that more sustainable tech products will be coming out in the next few months.
Sustainability in the tech industry has a lot of room for growth. As product standards are created for more sustainable materials, more products will be made from these materials. This means that more tech companies will be researching sustainable materials and incorporating them into their product lines. Also, as sustainable tech grows, its demand will increase, which will move the tech industry to produce more sustainable products.
Another way to increase sustainability in tech is to buy used or refurbished products. This will cut down on unnecessary product production and its harmful effects on the environment. It will also make available more products with used materials that had been thrown away.
Also, buying used or refurbished products will cut down on the need for more resources. This will limit the demand for more materials, which will limit the amount of materials needed to be extracted. To buy used products, check out Swappa, Amazon, eBay, and Craigslist.
