Maserati GranCabrio's First Look

Electrek reported that ahead of its official launch some time next year, Maserati released the official images of its all-electric model - the GranCabrio. This is the convertible version of the GranTurismo. Both of these vehicles are the first cars to adopt a 100% electric solution.

Maserati stated that the prototypes for the GrandCabrio have already begun the initial testing for future developments, which was done in Modena, Italy. The company added that testings include driving on roads, tracks, and other various stage conditions.

These were all done for the automaker to gather as several data as much as they can to optimize GranCabrio's fine-tuning before the production begins. As per the report, no further information was shared that much other than the images that were released but expect this vehicle to be launched in 2023.

Features of the GranCabrio

Based on a report by Car Scoops, GranCabrio is expected to have powertrains that feature a much more quiet version of MC20's twin-turbo V6. It obtains a 3.0-liter engine that makes 483 hp (360 kW/490 PS) and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque, which can send the car as fast as 62 mph in 3.9 seconds. However, there will be an added weight that may slow the acceleration since this is a convertible vehicle. But the report stated that it is not noticeable.

For the inner features, GranCabrio will be having a 12.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, with an additional 8.8-inch touchscreen.

The automaker has been defining the word "electric" by having both hybrid and fully electric vehicles. But AutoEvolution confirmed that "Maserati is innovative by nature and is looking ahead to the future. The new models are intended to launch the Folgore electric range, with which Maserati will set the benchmark in every market segment: each car in the range will be fully electric by 2030."

Last March, Maserati joined to the list of companies that adopts the electric vehicle and joined the EV bandwagon as they introduced Grecale, a brand-new compact SUV that is to release in 2023. This features a range of powertrains and will be including electric versions.
