Vivo X90 Series Camera Specs Revealed: Super-Resolution Algorithm to Recover 35% of Information Lost to Optical Imperfections

Vivo is getting more competitive in the camera department as the specs for its X90 series have been revealed. Some new technologies include a super-resolution algorithm that helps recover 35% of information that would otherwise be lost to optical imperfections.

Vivo X90 Series is Expected to Launch as X80 Pro+ has Reportedly been Cancelled

According to the story by Giz China, Vivo is getting ready to launch the Vivo X90 series. The company's moves regarding the new series no longer remain a secret.

Previously, the company did not give any confirmation regarding the Vivo X80 Pro+'s existence despite rumors saying that it almost saw fruition and that the company just decided to shift its focus towards the Vivo X90 series. An article by Notebook Check goes into more detail regarding its cancelation.

One thing that Vivo is particularly working on for its next series is the camera technology. It was noted that the system's end goal was to create a digital image that would be as close as possible to what the human eyes see.

The new tech emphasizes two challenging scenarios for smartphones, portraits and night photography. Vivo and ZEISS have been working to improve this technology for the Vivo X90 series.

New Tech for the Vivo X90 Series Include Camera and Imaging Improvements

The system reportedly adds a brand-new optical system using advanced coatings and lenses while improving the signal-to-noise ratio of the image sensor. Once the image sensor picks something up, the True Color Restoration Engine will try to figure out the right white balance.

The Vivo X90 series is also expected to add the Ultra-Clear Image Quality Engine tech to its system. The company says that its new method is a super-resolution algorithm and uses a virtual model of the lens.

When using the virtual model of the lens, the super-resolution algorithm then recovers around 35% of the information that would have otherwise been lost due to optical imperfections. The multi-frame mode can also improve the overall image quality and dynamic range.

The article by Giz China notes that this particular technology can be very useful, especially in periscope lenses. As for the X90 series' portrait improvements, a new system will split the portrait into three parts.

The first part will be detecting 103 feature points while understanding the scene. The remaining parts will then work together to split the work while the machine-learning beauty filters will be applied and other smart adjustments towards other details like brightness, blur, tone, and more.

Expectation is that the New Vivo Smartphone Will Launch on June 2023

The Vivo X90 will also use technology to help improve low-light photography. There will be a 2x increase when it comes to the maximum sensitivity of the camera. This would allow the phone's camera to hit an ISO of 102,400 for better resolution.

As per an article by My Mobiles News, the release date for the Vivo X90 series could be on June 2023, but the company has yet to be confirmed.
