Apple Music and Apple TV Plus Prices Increase

As per the latest news story by CNBC, Apple has increased the pricing of its subscription services in the US, including its Apple Music and Apple TV+.

While the Cupertino-based tech giant is known for its iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks, as well as the AirPods and Apple Watch, it also offers subscription services. It has its music streaming platform, Apple Music, which competes with Spotify.

Meanwhile, Apple TV+, which brought award-winning shows like Ted Lasso and Severance, is one of the top video streaming services. Although it takes a small pie of the market, it essentially rivals giants like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.

And this time, both its Apple Music and Apple TV Plus are getting more expensive than ever.

Apple Music vs. Spotify Pricing

To be more precise, the new Apple Music monthly subscription now costs $10.99. A dollar increase from its previous pricing of $9.99.

CNBC puts the newly increased pricing of Apple Music into perspective, comparing it with the pricing of its close rival, the podcasting and music streaming service Spotify. It is worth noting that the latter offers its monthly subscription service for $9.99.

And as such, an Apple Music subscription is now more costly than an individual plan of Spotify Premium.

Apple TV Plus vs. Netflix

Besides the Apple Music and Spotify pricing comparison, CNBC also put the subscription fees of Netflix and Apple TV Plus side-by-side.

And it turns out that the pricing of Netflix is still more expensive than the streaming service of the renowned phone maker. However, it is worth noting that the library of the Apple TV Plus is significantly smaller than what the streamer that brought us Stranger Things offers.

The new pricing of Apple TV+ now costs $6.99 per month, which is at least a $2 increase. CNBC notes that it is the same price as the upcoming ad-supported tier of Netflix, which only costs $6.99 monthly.

Why Did Apple Increase Subscription Fees?

According to a report by XDA Developers, Apple blames the price increase of its music service on an "increase in licensing costs."

On the flip side, the Apple TV+ price bump is due to the increasing library of the streaming service.
