Google's Nest update appears to have messed up the night vision cameras, some users have complained in various forums.
It looks like the recent firmware update of Google's Nest cameras brings issues to its night vision feature, at least for some of its users.
Google Nest Camera Update Messes Up Night Vision
As per the latest report by 9to5 Google, the latest firmware update of Google Nest cameras has started rolling out in the past three weeks. And it looks like the new update is messing up the performance of its night vision feature for some users.
Although the issue does not seem widespread to all users, some Nest camera users have started storming Google support forums and Reddit to report the janky night vision.
9to5 Google notes in its report that most complaints are from users of the current-generation Nest camera model. But it is worth noting that some users of the older models are also experiencing the same issue.

How Bad is the Night Vision Issue?
A Reddit user asked if other Nest Cam Indoor users have experienced issues with night vision lately. The post further says that the night vision option of the cameras is now "significantly worse" in the past two or three weeks.
The Nest Cam user narrates that the "night vision is much darker and does not seem to reach as far to see objects in the distance."
Another user responded by saying, "I have the same issue..." One of the replies also states the same issue, wherein "the color looks bad," is also present in their Nest Cam.
The common issue with night vision all points out problematic video quality. Some users see green flashing issues, while others find that too dark or blurry.
On the other hand, some users are saying that their night vision stays the same, noting that the video remains to be "clear" and "crisp."
So given that, it looks like the janky night vision problem only persists for some users of the Google Nest Cam.
9to5 Google suggests that the camera issue might have been brought by the recent software update version 1.63. It should be noted that this patch was released between late September and early October. However, it is to note that Google has yet to acknowledge the night vision issue to some Nest Cam users as of writing. And as such, it is unclear whether the issue came from the said firmware update.
