Last year, Apple Music introduced spatial audio with Dolby Atmos to their devices, including iPhones, Macs, HomePod, and Apple TV. In an announcement today, it will be coming to cars for the first time.
Apple Brings Spatial Audio to Mercedes-Benz
A report from The Verge stated that Mercedes-Benz partnered with Apple Music to bring spatial audio to some of its models. This will be powered by Dolby Atmos, which was added to Maybach, S-Class, and electric vehicles like EQS and EQE models. To avail of this, an additional $4,550 for a 3D Burmester sound system or $6,730 for a 4D Burmester sound system will be included in the total along, with the original price of the vehicle.
This expansion will give drivers better sound quality and a fully immersive listening experience. Apple Music and Beats Vice President Oliver Schusser stated via Apple's Newsroom his excitement towards what the two companies will offer to its customers.
He added that "Spatial Audio is revolutionizing the way artists create and fans listen to music, and it's an experience that is impossible to explain in words; you have to hear it for yourself to appreciate it. Together with Mercedes-Benz, we now have even more opportunities to bring wholly immersive music to our subscribers all over the world."
Mercedes-Benz also stated that this partnership with Apple Music is very important especially that many musicians and recording artists already base their approval of a new mix of track on how it sounds when played in a car. This new feature was labeled by the company as "the benchmark for music production and playback quality."

Spatial audio enhances the users' music experience as it spreads out different sounds to several audio channels that give a virtual 3D audio space from their speakers, earbuds, and headphones. In the Apple Music application, it is labeled to some of the songs that support this experience.
After launching it last year, this will be the very first time Apple Music expands to a different industry, based on a report from 9To5Mac. Spatial audio and lossless streaming are available to all Apple Music subscribers without additional cost.
Apple Music and Microsoft Collaborations
Aside from its integration with Mercedes-Benz, Apple Music will also be expanding its features to Window OS, together with Apple TV and iCloud. In 2023, users can download desktop versions of the Apple TV and Apple Music through Microsoft Store for Windows computers. Currently, Apple only recommends PC users to access these platforms through a web browser (tv.apple.com and music.apple.com).
iCloud will also be integrated with Windows 11 Photos app as a part of the update. Before announcing this partnership, Windows users have to download a copy of the iCloud Photos for them to merge their files.
