SpaceX's new Starlink satellite internet for RVs now works on other moving vehicles, the Elon Musk-led space exploration firm announced.
The space company confirmed that it is now accepting orders for the new Starlink dish, which sports a new design that allows more vehicles to use it.
SpaceX's Starlink Satellite Internet for RVs Now Works on Any Moving Vehicles
As per the latest news story by Interesting Engineering, SpaceX revealed that its new Starlink satellite dish is now available for orders.
The Musk-owned tech giant announced in its recent tweet that the new design of its internet satellite service flaunts "high-speed, low-latency internet while on the move!"
It turns out that the initial Starlink for EVs offering of SpaceX has now expanded to more moving vehicles. It is worth noting that when it debuted, it was only available exclusively on Recreational Vehicles.
So if you own a sedan on an SUV, now is the chance to experience satellite internet on your vehicle.
According to a recent report by Engadget, SpaceX has officially introduced a new option for its Starlink for RVs service. It now allows other moving vehicles, including Tesla electric vehicles (EVs), to also stuff the Starlink dish.
The new variant of Starlink for RVs goes by the name "Flat High Performance." But what does this fancy-named satellite really offer?
What's New in the Starlink Internet for RVs 'Flat High-Performance Variant'
Aside from the new name, the Flat High-Performance Variant for RVs is essentially designed to work on any moving vehicle, regardless if it is a Recreation Vehicle.
And on top of that, it is worth mentioning that the new option also works while the vehicle is in motion.
The initial version that SpaceX introduced is only usable when the car is stopped. But this time, its users could enjoy the satellite internet even while on the go.
Not to mention that the new design flaunts a larger terminal, which SpaceX touts to see more sky by roughly 35 percent than the standard version.
What really sets it apart from its previous counterparts is its improved GPS features. It allows the new internet dish to connect to more satellites even while the vehicle is in motion.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SpaceX, Musk, boasts that the new variant "works on any moving land object."
How Much is it Priced?
SpaceX says that the new Flat High-Performance Starlink dish costs $2,500. However, users have to pay the monthly $135 fee for the Starlink for RV service to get their hands on the new variant.
