Microsoft Surface Pro 9 gets rid of the headphone jack, following the move of other laptop makers, including Apple and Dell.
Although the Redmond-based tech giant did make a fuss about it, its full specs quietly confirm that its new Surface Pro 9 no longer offers the 3.5mm connector that its predecessors had.
Microsoft Surface Pro 9 Drops the Headphone Jack
As per the news story by The Verge, other tech giants, especially Apple, have started to phase out the headphone jack from their devices.
The iPhone maker still offers the headphone jack to its iPad, but it is the last remaining Apple device to do so, according to a report by Mac Rumors.
However, early reports point out that its 10th-generation tablet is ditching the 3.5mm connector, which could completely get rid of the headphone phone from all of its products. It is worth noting, though, that the Cupertino tech giant has yet to confirm it. But it does seem inevitable.
This time, none other than Microsoft has quietly deleted the headphone jack from its latest 2-in-1 laptop, the Surface Pro 9.
There was no official announcement from the Redmond firm, unlike how Apple has been transparent about it. Instead, The Verge noticed the change in the full specs page of the new Microsoft machine.
The website of Microsoft only lists four ports, including two USB-C, which support ultra-fast USB 4.0 and Thunderbolt 4. Apart from these two, it also comes with Surface Keyboard and Surface Connect ports.
Meanwhile, the 5G version of the Surface Pro 9, which connects to cellular data while its users are on the go, includes an additional nano-SIM port. Yet, the 3.5 connector for wired headphones is nowhere to be seen.
