Apple's PC shipments increased drastically this 2022. However, other computer manufacturers are experiencing not-so-good shipment records.
When the global COVID-19 pandemic began, electronics sales arose.
As people accept work-from-home setups, many of them decide to purchase laptops and personal computers so that their daily work tasks can be completed.
But, many countries are now lifting their COVID-19 restrictions, allowing employees to go back to their offices.
Because of this, the overall PC shipments this 2022 declined.
Apple PC Shipments Increase in 2022
According to Digital Information World's latest report, the overall shipments this 2022 are quite lower compared to the record in 2021.
This was shown in the data of the International Data Corporation (IDC). In 2021, the total PC shipments reached more than 87 million.
However, this 2022, PC shipments plunged by around 74 million, which is 15% less compared to the previous year.
Although this is the case, the computer shipments of Apple increased by 13.5% (from 7,174 in Q3 2021 to 10,060 in Q3 2022).
Jitesh Ubrani, research manager for the worldwide mobile device trackers at IDC, explained that the likes of Apple and other key companies in the PC market helped reduce the impact of the decreasing PC shipments.
But, computer shipments of Lenovo and other giant PC makers decreased.
Lenovo, Other PC Maker Experience Less Shipments
Computer World provided the official data of the International Data Corporation for the overall PC shipments in 2021 and 2022.
Lenovo, which is on the top list, shipped more than 20,000 personal computers. However, in 2022, the company only delivered 17,000 units.
On the other hand, HP Inc. also experienced a drastic PC shipment decrease (from 17,622 to 12,706).
Aside from these two tech firms, here are other PC makers that have fewer computer shipments:
- Dell (From 15,233 to 12,021)
- ASUS (From 6,007 to 5,559)
- Acer (From 6,036 to 4,494)
- Others (From 12,468 to 10,306)
