Google's Own Stadium

As per 9To5Google, there has been a rumor circulating in different publications that Google is exploring to acquire the naming rights for the three-year-old Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England. No names have yet been confirmed.

Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy stated before that it is possible for a certain company to acquire the naming rights of their own stadium if the deal has a good offer.

Tottenham Hotspur Acquisition

Tottenham was not the only one considering being acquired by brands as many other English Premier League Clubs have already renamed due to specific deals, as per The Atheltic. These include Emirates Stadium, Tottenham's North London rival Arsenal.

If Google considers the deal, they will have international exposure as the stadium features the Champions League. Several sports teams have agreed with Google, like the McLaren F1 racing team, who signed a deal in March 2022.

Google Stadium 2019 Rumors

This news woke up a rumor from three years ago in a subreddit. According to this, Tottenham has been considered to be acquired by several brands like Google and FedEx. A model of the proposed stadium was also included in the subreddit.

Last month, Google announced that the company is planning to close down its video game streaming service Stadia. As per the report on their blog, gamers can access their game library and continue playing only until January 18th, 2023.

Stadia Vice President and General Manager Phil Harrison stated, "While Stadia's approach to streaming games for consumers was built on a strong technology foundation, it hasn't gained the traction with users that we expected so we've made the difficult decision to begin winding down our Stadia streaming service."

The company also promises its users a refund for all hardware purchases made by them through their online store. Reimbursement will also be made for all the games and add-on content that were purchased.

Although the closing of the Stadia is not so much related to the rumors of acquiring a stadium, this decision of Google is an interesting turn of events after shutting down one of the company's assets.
