Microsoft Outlook Crashing, Freezing Issue
As per a recent report by Neowin, none other than Microsoft admitted last August that there is an issue with its email service, Outlook, for desktop users.
The tech giant acknowledged that Outlook for Desktop keeps crashing when its users open it.
It must be pretty frustrating to open software that suddenly closes upon startup. Not to mention that users of Outlook are looking to check out their emails, and some might have been urgent.
Given that, the renowned software maker has investigated the crashing and freezing issues for its email client. And it turns out there has been some sort of issue wherein it fails to assign the correct email address values. In turn, it crashes when users open it.
Microsoft notes in its explanation that "this issue occurs when the EmailAddress string data value under the Office identity is blank."
But why has it come to this? Well, the tech giant is also clueless why the "EmailAddress" is improperly set all of a sudden.
Fix for Outlook Crashing Issues is Now Rolling Out to Users
This time, the tech juggernaut reveals that a solution for the Outlook issue is now on its way to its users.
According to the news story by Bleeping Computer, the giant software maker is now rolling out a new update, which specifically addresses the janky Outlook for Microsoft 365.
The news outlet notes that the update has started rolling out to users in the Current and Semi-Annual Enterprise channels.
However, if you belong to another channel, you might have to wait before it arrives. Microsoft notes that the update for other channels is rolling out soon.
The tech behemoth confirms that "this issue is fixed in Current Channel Version 2209 (Build 15629.20156) and Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel (Preview) Version 2208 (Build 15601.20158)."

How to Stop Outlook from Crashing Upon Startup
Given that the update has yet to roll out to other channels, it is worth noting that Microsoft has provided a workaround to Outlook users.
One of which requires them to sign out and sign in again to their Office accounts. It should "repopulate the identified registry settings."
