TikTok released an update this Thursday where the platform will be adding new tools for editing and adjusting videos, based on a report by 9To5Mac. Without leaving the application and accessing third-party apps, users will now be able to edit their content professionally.
TikTok Update
Before this update, TikTok already has basic video editing tools that all users can use to make and adjust their content. This new update took the editing experience to the next level as several tools have been added.
"To expand what's possible with content on TikTok, we've introduced a range of enhanced creation and editing tools. Now available in the US and most regions globally, our new editing tools empower people to enjoy more creative freedom, share richer stories, and bring their content ideas to life across formats," the company stated on their own newsroom.
New Video Editing Tools
Users will not be able to stack, cut, and split both videos and sounds. The platform also made it easier for users to add text to clips. Adding to these, an option will now be given to use in adding a photo and video overlays for the picture-in-picture feature.
Other new tools include: adjusting video speed, rotating or zooming individual clips, and adding sound effects. TikTok stated that this update will give people empowerment and enjoy creative freedom.
Photo Mode
Another feature will be added to the platform where users will be experiencing a new carousel format that's ideal for sharing high-quality images on the platform. Together with the Photo Mode, users can also add music or sounds to the carousel.
Longer Descriptions
The company also included an update where descriptions for each post were boosted up to 2,200 characters. This will give users a space to express their selves together with their own content.
TikTok stated, "We know that there are all kinds of formats people use to express themselves on TikTok, and we'll continue building experiences that empower them to create in all kinds of ways - from videos to LIVEs, photos, text, and more."

Disliking Comments
Last month, the platform added a new feature where users are now able to dislike comments. As per XDA-Developers, no rules were given regarding how this feature will be used by the users but it will help them to determine comments if it were "inappropriate or irrelevant".
