Google Rolls Out Android Update for October

As per the latest report by GSM Arena, Google started dishing out the latest Android update to its supported Pixel smartphones.

The online news outlet notes that the rollout of the Android October update is not really surprising.

It says that the tech giant routinely releases its monthly software update for Pixel devices on the first Monday of the month. The only exemption for this strict schedule is when a holiday falls on the earliest Monday.

And for October, Google followed its routine to release its latest Android update for supported Pixel phones. The new update is now rolling out to its users, which includes owners of Pixel 4 mobile devices and its newer siblings.

Last Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL Android Update?

According to a news story by Android Police, the October update might be the last Android release that still supports the Pixel 4 series. Google says that it is supposed to be the final guaranteed patch for the Pixel 4 XL and Pixel 4 mobile devices.

However, the tech giant could still extend the Android updates for Pixel 4 phones. But based on what happened to its predecessor, the Pixel 3 lineup, this might be the last.

What's New in the October Android Update

The latest Android update for Pixel phones brings a couple of fixes for persistently annoying bugs and refinements in overall performance.

To be more precise, GSM Arena notes in its report that the new Android update fixes a bug that makes looking for Wi-Fi networks a bit frustrating. The problem hides the available network on the selection menu. But the latest update now gets rid of the issue.

Besides the Wi-Fi issue, the October release also addresses audio-related bugs. One of the issues breaks the volume control in the media player notifications. The other concern is the annoying noise that comes out during calls on wired earphones.

On top of that, it also fixed the bug that crashes the launcher when the device attempts to connect to VPN.

Although these fixes and refinements are critically important to users, it is to note that it might take a few more days before all Pixel users get their hands on it.

GSM reports that the October Android update comes with the build number TP1A.221005.002. However, Pixel 6a users are getting a different one, which is TP1A.221005.003.
