Skullcandy Attempts Return to Gaming Audience with Three New Headsets

Skullcandy was once a well-known brand before other giants like Beats came or when Apple dropped its Airpods. Now, the company is coming back to the world of gaming with the launch of three new gaming headsets.

Skullcandy is Launching Three New Headsets, Including the SLYR, SLYR Pro, PLYR

According to the story by Tech Radar, the three new gaming headsets are the SLYR, the SLYR Pro, and the PLYR headphones. It was noted that each three of the headphones are designed to cater to different levels of gamers.

The reason why the news is quite a shocker is that it has been ten years since the company launched a pair of gaming headsets known as the PLYR 2. The device is no longer being officially sold by the company.

The Headsets are Launching at What was Described as a Decent Price

Ever since then, gaming headsets have started to take a dramatic evolution meaning Skullcandy has had a lot of adjustments to make. As per the announcement, the solution is to offer different types of headsets that are packed with different wide ranges of functionality to allow them to cater to different platforms at what was described as a "decent price."

The different types of headphones are already listed on the official Skullcandy online store for fans to purchase. The gaming accessory is reportedly compatible with the users' PC, mobile devices, and even their gaming consoles.

Skullcandy's SLYR and SLYR Pro Headsets

The first headset listed is the SLYR which costs $59.99 and, compared to the other models, is more of an entry-level headphone. The device houses two different 50mm divers, which were described as capable of offering a wide "frequency range and rich, detailed sound."

The second headset listed is the SLYR Pro which costs $99.99 and, as per its name, adds more to the table compared to the basic SLYR. The gaming headset comes with a Clear Voice Smart Mic, which allows users to filter backward noise in order for the audio to maintain its clarity with the assistance of AI.

Skullcandy PLYR Headsets

Last but not least, Skullcandy is also selling the PLYR headset for $129.99, and as per the article, it is hard to see where the extra $30 goes to. The notable change in the headset is that it includes Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity as well as a built-in Tile feature.

The article by Tech Radar then compared Skullcandy to other tech giants in the gaming industry, and when it came to whether or not they can compete, the publication said, "probably not." The article, however, specified that the gaming headphones are still decent enough for entry-level gamers that do not want to mess around too much with the different complicated settings.
