HydrogenPro Develops World's Largest Electrolyzer in the Shape of a Screwdriver

Make way for the world's largest electrolyzer.

According to HydrogenPro, the largest electrolyzer in the world has arrived at its test location in Herøya, Norway.

A press release by Chemical Engineering revealed on Wednesday, Sept. 14 that the electrolyzer for HydrogenPro will be put together and deployed in the upcoming weeks.

The largest electrolyzer in the world, according to HydrogenPro, has arrived at their test site in Herøya, Norway.  At normal current density, the electrolyzer cargo, which departed Tianjin, China, in July, will produce 1,100 Nm3/hour of hydrogen. This amounts to 100 kgs of pure hydrogen every hour, which will establish a new standard for the industry. The electrolyzer has a diameter of 2 meters, and represents a key milestone for HydrogenPro and the further validation of their technology for large-scale green hydrogen generation.  HydrogenPro

Critical Milestone

Clean energy or low-carbon power is used to create green hydrogen. Green hydrogen has far lower carbon emissions than grey hydrogen, which makes up most of the hydrogen industry and is produced by steam reforming natural gas.

"This project is a critical milestone for large, green hydrogen projects. It requires substantial planning, rigging, and the right equipment. This project is important to facilitate larger, green hydrogen projects, reducing carbon footprints and costs," the company's chief product officer (CPO) Karoline Aafos said in a statement.

HydrogenPro further noted that this equates to 100 kg of pure hydrogen each hour, establishing a new standard for the sector. At the same time, the diameter of the electrolyzer is two meters.

All About HydrogenPro

According to its corporate portfolio, HydrogenPro is a technological firm that produces high-pressure alkaline electrolyzers and provides companies with massive green hydrogen plants.

In sum, HydrogenPro specializes in hydrogen and sustainable energy.

Chief Commercial Officer Erik Christian Bolstad said that this is a significant milestone for the company because it provides additional evidence that their technique for producing green hydrogen on a big scale is effective.

He added that the plant's performance would enhance the company's delivery to one of the world's biggest factories for green hydrogen.
