As per the latest news by Teslarati, it turns out that the hit electric SUV of Ford actually helped the giant automaker move forward with the production of the original Mustang muscle car.

The online news outlet notes that the Mustang Mach-E debuted way back in 2020 as part of the commitment of the Blue Oval to transition to EVs.

Teslarati says that the Ford monthly sales reports revealed that the popularity of the electric SUV surprisingly allowed the EV to outperform the original gas-guzzling Mustang, at least in terms of sales.

Essentially, the sales figures of the carmaker show that the Mach-E is one of its best-selling options of Ford.

And this time, no less than the Ford chief executive revealed that its best-selling electric SUV has a major role in the production of its gas-powered sibling, which it shares an iconic nameplate with.

Farley admits during the Detroit Auto Show that "the Mustang Mach-E, in a way, created, allowed this car to happen," referring to the newly launched 2024 Mustang.

He further bared that the popularity of the Mach-E sort of helped the renowned carmaker gains some financial flexibility.

Car and Driver notes in its report that the new Ford muscle car still rocks two gas engine options, such as the turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost engine and the loud-roaring 5.0-liter V8.

Aside from the gas engine, the new Mustang adds a few updates like the Remote Rev and Electric Hand Brake features.

It also rocks a 13-inch infotainment display, which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The instrument cluster of the sports car is also massive at 12.4 inches.

Mustang Mach-E Reopen Orders and Raises Prices

Meanwhile, according to a report by Forbes, Ford reopened the pre-orders for Mustang Mach-E before August ended. It comes after getting hands on the electric SUV has become extremely difficult for a while.

But its resumption of orders also brings heftier prices, which range between $3,000 to $8,000.

The Blue Oval blames the price inflation of its materials, as well as the raging supply mess and the increasing demand.
