Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 vs. iPhone 14 Chip
As per the latest report by Android Central, the rumored Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is potentially getting the shimmer of the spotlight sometime in November as Qualcomm hosts its Snapdragon Summit event.
The well-known leaker on the Chinese microblogging site, Weibo, known as Digital Chat Station, shared some astounding details regarding the next-generation Qualcomm chipset.
The Weibo leaker shares that the new Snapdragon chip provides an impressive GPU performance. Thus, it should make future Android smartphones perform better overall usage, but most importantly in high-graphics tasks like gaming.
Digital Chat Station also suggests that the upcoming flagship chip could potentially trample what the new iPhone offers in terms of GPU. If the latest leak is to be believed, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is looking to crash the GPU power of the new A16 chip, which powers the high-end iPhone 14.
According to a report by Notebook Check, the new A16 Bionic chip of Apple easily outperforms the single-core performance of the current Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. The disparity between the two is pretty far at roughly 40%.
Meanwhile, in terms of GPU benchmark numbers, the iPhone 14 Pro chip impressively shows a 28% improvement in performance than the A15 Bionic. It is worth pointing out that the latter powers both the standard iPhone 14 and the new iPhone 14 Plus variant.
Qualcomm's Snapdragon Gen 2: What We Know So Far
On top of that, the early leak has it that the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 debuts with two options, introducing an additional performance variant.
Digital Chat Station discloses that the renowned chip maker, which powers most high-end Android devices, is looking to offer two variants of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
The other version is set to offer "ultra-high frequency" once it starts powering Android phones by 2023.
Android Central notes that the new Snapdragon 8 variant reaches better clock speeds than its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen. The "ultra-high frequency" chip is rumored to go as high as 3.5GHz. It sure is an improvement from the 3.2Ghz clock speeds of Qualcomm chip that latest flagships offer.
