MediaTek and Budget Smartphones
The recent report from the analyst group, IDC, said that the massive growth in the market share numbers of MediaTek was triggered by the popularity of the A series budget-entry devices of Samsung, namely the Galaxy A12 and the Galaxy A32, as well as the Motorola G Pure.
It is also worth noting that these devices dominated the MediaTek phone sales in the fourth quarter of 2021, taking up to 24 percent of the whole market for phones powered by the Taiwanese chipmaker.
GizmoChina noted in its report that cheaper phones, priced below $299, which are basically budget entry-level phones, are dominated by MediaTek with its Dimensity 800, Dimensity 700, and Helio chipsets.
