Meta has fixed the annoying Instagram Stories default sound change after iOS users voiced out their disappointments.
For the past few years, the IG Stories on iPhones don't automatically play sound, especially when the iOS device is on silent mode.
However, Meta seems to have changed the photo app after iPhone users said that the IG stories sound automatic turns on.
Newsweek reported that the Google searchers for "how to turn off Instagram stories sound" increased by around 300% in just a single day.
But, the tech giant firm decided to revert the default sound as many consumers shared their frustrations.
Instagram Stories Default Sound Removed from iOS!
According to 9To5Mac's latest report, the Instagram Stories sound is now back to normal. This means that iPhone user can now mute their IG Stories, allowing them to enjoy a quiet experience.
Meta released the Instagram update to fix the issue on Sept. 15. Instead of automatically playing the sound, the audio of the IG Stories is now muted by default.
As of writing, Meta hasn't confirmed if the issue was a bug or a new feature. No matter what the case is, it's a good thing that the tech giant firm fixed the problem.
Was It an Instagram Bug?
Various experts concluded that the default sound on Instagram Stories was an effort made by meta to make the "Reels vs Stories" behavior more consistent.
Of course, Instagram Reels will automatically play the audio since they are videos. However, IG Stories are a combination of photos and videos.
This is why many consumers complain whenever their IG Stories sound automatically turns on.
If you are still having this problem, the best thing you can do is visit your Apple App Store and search for the Instagram app.
After that, update the application and see if the problem has been fixed.
Recently, the Instagram Repost feature was allegedly being tested for selected users.
Meanwhile, the Instagram Shopping page is reportedly being removed by Meta.
