Apple unveiled the Clean Energy Charging feature coming to iPhones this year in its recent press release. The Cupertino giant is rolling out this feature to select beta testers of the iOS 16.1 version.
iOs 16.1 Beta Welcomes Clean Energy Charging
Over the past years, many tech firms have been tapped by activists because of their activities harming the environment.
One of the most controversial corporations to this day is Apple. In 2020, a Bloomberg article said that Apple "isn't as green as it claims."
At that time, some customers thought that the company was deceiving them into buying their products to generate more profits from the people.
Apple has flaws when it comes to its commitment to sustainability, but last year, 2021, it finally achieved 100% renewable energy in some retail stores and data hubs across 43 countries, per Tech Times.
This time, the tech giant is committed to continuing the trend by introducing Clean Energy Charging to iPhones later this year.
According to a report by Engadget, it will first be effective in the US. This feature focuses on optimizing the charging times of a device by relying on sustainable energy sources.
Apple added that it's one of the ways to effectively decrease the carbon footprint that is present in the iPhones.

Where Can You Find Clean Energy Charging on an iPhone?
Per 9to5Mac's report on Wednesday, Sept. 14, the said feature can be spotted on the Setting apps of your iPhone. Once you're there, click the Battery menu.
After that, explore further until you see "Battery Health and Charging." Click that option and search for the Clean Energy Charging toggle.
"In your region, the iPhone will try to reduce your carbon footprint by selectively charging when lower carbon emission electricity is available. iPhone learns from your daily charging routine so it can reach full charge before you need to use it," Apple wrote.
The "green" feature is a perfect pair for the "Optimizing Battery Charging" option, which came out over the past years. Apple succeeded in bringing this as part of its plans to maximize the battery life of the device.
Since the use of Clean Energy Charging runs in the beta phase, the Cupertino-based firm won't release the remaining information on its website.
The iOS 16.1 will become usable in the fall, and that's the only time the details about this feature will pop out on pages and online sites.
Another interesting feature debuting this year is the iCloud Shared Photo Library. Up to six persons can access this option. You can invite the participants via a sent link or message.
Meanwhile, Apple uploaded a video showing how the Crash Detection feature works on iPhone 14.
