Ford's NFT and virtual automobiles were spotted on newly leaked trademark applications.
If this is true, then the giant automaker may be trying to enter the rising metaverse industry.
The documents were first revealed by Mike Kondoudis, an attorney lawyer with the USPTO (United States Patent and Trade Office).
"The company has filed 19 trademark applications for all of its major brands claiming plans for," said Kondoudis via his official Twitter post.
Is Ford Entering Metaverse?
According to Gadget 360's latest report, the newly leaked trademark application files hint that Ford is entering the metaverse.
Based on the screenshot provided by Kondoudis, the upcoming NFT and virtual vehicles include Ford's top models, such as Bronco, Mustang, Explorer, F-150 Lightning, Lincoln, and other models.
Aside from these, the trademark applications also showed that Ford plans to launch downloadable virtual goods.
These include computer programs that feature car components and accessories.
Virtual clothes for online tradeshows, which will be conducted in the metaverse, are also expected to arrive.
Other Metaverse Plans of Ford
Aside from the mentioned NFTs, virtual cars, and other digital goods, the giant American multinational car manufacturer may also be working on a new digital marketplace.
This platform is expected to promote the digital artwork of other companies.
Ford's metaverse plan was revealed after the company's CEO, Jim Farley, announced that they would be conducting massive staff cuts.
As of writing, Ford is not the only automaker interested in the rising metaverse industry.
Hyundai, Toyota, and Nissan also announced their plans to enter the virtual world.
On the other hand, Bently and Lamborghini have already launched their NFT collections.
All the efforts made by other automakers clearly show that the auto industry and the metaverse world may soon merge, creating a new virtual experience.
