As of writing, many companies are already offering their own EV charging networks. These include ChargePoint, Electrify America, and the Tesla Supercharger.

Although their technologies are quite advanced, many EV owners are still looking for charging stations that are easy to use or similar to conventional gas stations.

This scenario is about to change thanks to Electrify America's efforts.

According to Engadget's latest report, Electrify America unveiled its new charging station designs.

Some of the enhancements in these redesigned EV chargers include a new balanced charging system, charging level label indicator, and better payment options.

The American DC fast charging network provider said that these new EV chargers were launched after they conducted some electric car driver surveys.

Since EV owners are having a hard time identifying the charging speeds of their own zero-emission cars, Electrify America explained that it would keep the CHAdeMO for low-level chargers (around 50kW).

On the other hand, charging stations with up to 150 kW will be named as Ultra-Fast chargers. Aside from this, there will also be the Hyper-Fast models, which can reach up to 350 kW.

"We want to help make the transition to EV charging easier by translating kilowatt ratings into simple names like Hyper-Fast and Ultra-Fast with corresponding colors to help them make a selection at the charger," said Electrify America Senior Director Robert Barrosa.

Other Efforts to Electrify America

Previously, InsideEVS reported that Electrify America partnered with IKEA to deploy its EV charging stations. Their new project is expected to add around 200 public chargers, which offer 150 kW to 350 kW.

They will be installed at IKEA retail locations in 18 states. These include Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, New York, and Michigan.

On the other hand, free Electrify America charging was provided to BMW EV buyers.

Meanwhile, the Electrify America app was updated, allowing it to be compatible with Android devices.
