Disney is planning to launch its own membership program similar to Amazon Prime. This subscription will offer subscribers several perks on top of discounts and other exclusive rewards.
Disney Membership Program
Subscription services are becoming popular online for users to conveniently shop, stream, and do many things at once. Before receiving perks, you first need to pay for the membership cost, but this program is something that everyone is talking about in the meantime.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the Disney Prime program will collect the customer's information to see what it will improve in its business.
In doing so, the entertainment company will gather details about their habits and interests, so it can assess what products should be further developed to suit their needs.
The news outlet reported that the membership program is in its early phase at the moment. Disney has not yet revealed the cost of the subscription or what particular perks customers can get upon paying.
Although the subscription service is initially called "Disney Prime" by the executives, it won't be the official name of the service, WSJ added.
"Technology is giving us new ways to customize and personalize the consumer experience so that we are delivering entertainment, experiences, and products that are most relevant to each of our guests," said Schake. "A membership program is just one of the exciting ideas that are being explored," Kristina Schake, the chief communications officer of Disney, said.
What Disney Currently Offers
As of writing, The Verge noted that Disney has an existing membership program outside of "Disney Prime." When you avail of the annual subscription for the D23 fan club, you will receive a free quarterly subscription to the Disney twenty-three magazine, slashed ticket prices, exclusive merchandise, and more.
The program will cost you $99.99 per year. If you buy it for two people, you need to pay $129.99.
Just a short trivia: the D23 fan club got its name from the founding year of Disney, 1923.

Disney Prime Could Be For Casuals
Speaking of a membership program, Disney Prime might be launched for casual fans. This means that the company will focus on targeting users with a myriad of its products in the market.
As for Bob Chapek, the Disney CEO, the company might expand its service to cater to the needs of many customers. We expect more engagements to be available to the public, starting from its children's films to "Marvel" movies.
On top of that, the membership program could also cover exclusive passes to theme parks, resorts, and other Disney-owned places.
Earlier this year, Tech Times reported that Disney dropped its patent about the metaverse. A few months later, the company shared its plans for its project.
