The Tesla phantom braking issue may lead to a new class-action lawsuit. A Californian resident, who owns a Model 3, decided to file a legal action against the giant automaker.
Jose Alvarez Toledo of San Francisco filed his lawsuit in a federal court in the Northern District of California. In a complaint, he claimed that Tesla's safety feature is actually a "frightening and dangerous nightmare."
"When the sudden unintended braking defect occurs, they turn what is supposed to be a safety feature into a frightening and dangerous nightmare," said the plaintiff via Reuters.
Tesla Phantom Braking Triggers Possible Class-Action Lawsuit
According to The Verge's latest report, Toledo estimated that thousands of Tesla EV owners might join him in his class-action lawsuit.

In his complaint, the Model 3 owner said many people had already reported that their Tesla vehicles suddenly slowed down and stopped.
He added that these unexpected EV movements are caused by the automaker's Class Vehicle braking systems.
The latest lawsuit against the EV developer is a big headache, especially since the company is still facing a federal investigation into the dangerous phantom braking.
As of writing, the legal action filed by Jose is still not yet a class action lawsuit. But, once officials approve this complaint, all U.S. owners affected by the system braking problem are expected to testify against the automaker.
Other Things Tesla is Accused Of
Toledo's lawsuit also highlights other issues of Tesla. These accusations include unfairly profiting from the popular Autopilot system, hiding safety risks linked to the autonomous feature, breaching EV warranties, as well as violating California's competition law.
The phantom braking issue of the automaker is among the most dangerous system problems in the EV industry because it can affect other drivers around you.
This problem is not really rare. Fortune explained that autonomous braking features malfunctioned, especially in the dark.
Meanwhile, more Tesla Supercharger stations are expected to arrive in Canada as the automaker ramps up its Canadian design team.
On the other hand, Europe may soon receive cheaper Tesla electric car units.
