One of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time's most enduring features is Link's wonderful friend Navi. If you are familiar with the action-adventure classic from Nintendo, you could very well remember that clever blue wisp that drops clues for Link when he is stuck on a quest at hand.
One of the blue fairy's iconic lines is "Hey, Listen!" Navi would go on to bug players doing even the simplest of tasks. Navi is an important part of the Zelda game, but at some point, Navi could turn into a very annoying character. Who would want to be yelled at about how to do the most superficial tasks like opening doors and passing through hallways?
'Legend of Zelda' Navi Sound Alert Annoys Twitch Streamer
Twitch variety streamer Celina is the latest victim of Navi's annoying antics. In a live stream, where she is explaining her reasons for adding a Navi notification, Celina gets distracted by an endless barrage of Navi ramblings. In a video she posted on Twitter, the streamer burst out laughing after the Zelda guide took over her stream.
How did this happen? Twitch streamers control channel points which are customizable points programs that let streamers reward their members and viewers with some bonuses. According to the Twitch FAQ, this is typically rewarded to subscribers.
Here's How Celina Added the Custom Link Notification
In the case of Twitch streamer Celina, she customized her channel points notification to sound like Navi from the Zelda game series. This means that every time a subscriber reaches a certain milestone in her stream community, it triggers Navi to start whimpering.
In her tweet thread, the streamer mentions that her Navi alert is working through Firebot, which is an open-source programming tool for Switch, much like Streamlabs. In this tool, streamers can customize their notification sounds and pop-up images.
The custom Navi sound alerts by the Twitch streamer include a witty line: "I am not even in this game." It is like what would happen if people had fairy guides like the one in "Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time." Imagine going to work or to school with a creature doing a live commentary of your everyday routine.
Even though Navi could sometimes be really irritating, this stream cameo by the blue fairy is adorable and clever. It brings us nostalgia for when we were still grinding Zelda quests with our fairy guide, Link.
