Fans of the Back to the Future film series and auto aficionados have been anticipating the rebirth of the DeLorean brand for some time. This anticipation peaked when DeLorean introduced the Alpha 5, an electric-powered vehicle, earlier this year as the first vehicle produced under the redesigned brand.
British engineer Stephen Wynne took over as the company's new management in 1995, and the Texas-based manufacturer DeLorean updated its appearance while using the old business's name and parts stock.
John DeLorean, a leader in the automotive sector, created the business in 1975. But unfortunately, it filed for bankruptcy in 1982.
However, DeLorean has unveiled their Omega concept that looks straight out of the future!
"Based Entirely on The Future"
According to DeLorean, the Omega concept represents a "complete departure from traditional automotive design," and it appears that they were successful since the concept photos show how unique the car was designed.
The Baja-themed off-road racing concept that DeLorean unveiled during Monterey Car Week amply demonstrated the company's commitment to designing for the future.
As reported by Interesting Engineering, the new Omega design is based entirely on the future, or you might say it was taken right out of a science fiction movie.
The car sports a front spoiler, cannon-like headlights, moon rover-style wheels, translucent rear lamps in the shape of fins, a dumbbell-shaped roofline, and most interestingly, it does not have any side mirrors.
The Omega concept car rides on big, chunky wheels and has one enormous windscreen that spans from the grille to the taillights.
With its high riding, opaque doors, and large wheels, the Omega concept uses the design flexibility offered by electric powertrains.
The concept car's dual-blade head and tail lamps have the appearance of sharp boomerangs, giving it the sensation of a lunar rover rather than a conventional mode of transportation, as noted by Interesting Engineering.
The concept car's hourglass-shaped aerodynamic top is covered by a strip of tinted glass, which should offer exceptional overhead visibility. The Omega concept's rear window is also seen as a series of ascending hexagons based on the photos.
Alpha5 Plasmatail 2024
During the Alpha5 presentation at Pebble Beach Automotive Week, DeLorean also unveiled the Alpha5 Plasmatail 2024.
The design for Alpha 5 was created by Italdesign under the direction of Giorgetto Giugiaro, the company's founder. Additionally, it has a dual motor all-wheel drive system, a 300-mile estimated range, and a 3-second 0-60 mph time.
The design also includes the DeLorean Sense feature, which links users to others who are granted (by the drivers) the linked band and allows them to view the heartbeat on the console screen and modify the temperature on the driver's seat based on body temperature.
