Sony has revealed its newest PlayStation 5 controller that is changing the game for customization in both hardware and software aspects. The upgraded version of the popular PS5 DualSense is about to come soon for gamers.
PS5 DualSense Edge Offers Seamless Customization Features
At first glance, you can surmise that this customizable controller has similarities with Microsoft's Xbox Elite. However, the staggering difference will surprise you with how flexible it is when it comes to gaming.
According to PlayStation.Blog, the DualSense Edge wireless controller sports a "first-ever high performance" that will allow the gamers to experiment with custom controls. This offers a versatile approach for everyone who wants to make adjustments so it could fit their playstyle.
The upcoming PS5 controller is a one-of-kind product that promotes a smooth customization experience in both software and hardware.
Hardware Customization
You can swap its back buttons with two choices on the plate: lever and half-dome.
If you're a heavy tapper who regularly wears out the stick, the PS5 DualSense Edge can allow you to replace the stick modules so you don't have to worry anymore about endless clicking. This time, the gaming company won't be putting them inside the box. Instead, it will separately sell them to the customers.
Aside from that, you can also switch out the stick caps with your preferred option. You can either choose a low dome, a high dome, or the standard one.

Software Customization
For those wondering about the software customization, you can almost alter all the buttons and settings for a huge change. PCMag wrote that you can change the trigger travel and even tweak the stick sensitivity.
On top of that, it's your call to remap the buttons, but that also leaves the option to deactivate them when the time comes.
If you're used to swapping between profiles when playing a new title. Sony's PS5 DualSense Edge won't let you do that anymore.
Interestingly, you can save several profiles for different games so your custom buttons won't be reset upon opening a new game. This can be done through the Fn button.
Since this is a highly-revamped DualSense controller, you can expect to see original features including haptic feedback, a built-in mic, adaptive triggers, and motion controls.
Sony will be adding a storage case dedicated to efficient charging. It will retain the USB-C connectivity that we have previously seen from the old controller.
As of writing, the company has not yet revealed any information about its official launch date and pricing. We might hear some details for the remaining months of 2022.
