Tesla’s Gigafactory in Texas Reaches Goal of Producing 1,000 Model Y per Week

Following the lead of the Gigafactory of Berlin-Brandenburg, Tesla's Gigafactory in Texas reached the record of producing 1,000 models in a single week, specifically the Model Y, as reported first by InsideEvs.

An employee of the company confirms the record via Twitter and Snapchat with a photo of a board that contains the logo of Tesla and the number of "1,000". Several employees signed the board who helped to reach those numbers.

For only four months, Giga Texas already achieved this goal as the factory only officially opened in April this year. Although it was a much slower achievement than Giga Berlin as they reached the same number just three months after the opening, Tesla employees still celebrate and rejoice.

As per the 2022 Q2 report, the factory was envisioned to attain this goal as it aims to produce 250,000 Tesla Model Y for the whole year. CEO Elon Musk predicted these same numbers during the meeting.

Not only Giga Texas is offering the Model Y AWD models with 4680 cylindrical battery cells but Model Y Long Range has also been produced with 2170 cells on their line ups when it comes to producing these types of vehicles.

The Y AWD model ranges from 279 miles or 449 kilometers of EPA range while Y Long Range AWD ranges from 330 miles or 531 kilometers of EPA range. Both of the models have 19 inches wheels.

Senior Vice President, Powertrain and Energy Engineering Drew Baglino explained during the earnings call that the 4680 cell equipment has been installed and commissioned at the Giga Texas during the second quarter. Adding the 2710-type model will help produce more Model Y cars to obtain the main task of ramping up the newer version with a structural battery pack.

Tesla's New Features

A public beta is now available for users to download and use for their Tesla models. This new Tesla Full Self Driving version 10.9 is applicable for road use as it can avoid dangerous situations such as crossing a road and car detection.

All of this was used with its radar imaging, cameras, and sensors that will be beneficial to the automated self-driving feature.

Elon Musk has been raving about the newest version of the Full Self Driving feature for the longest time on his social media account, especially on Twitter. The CEO also replied to one of its consumers regarding the unprotected left turn's success.

He stated, "This early version of 10.69 is being extra cautious, so waits for a moderately big gap in traffic to cross. Upcoming releases will do better in heavy traffic,".
