Boom Esports Wins Gamers Galaxy: Dota 2 Invitational 2022, Defeats Polaris Esports in BO5 Thriller

Boom Esports defeat Polaris Esports to win back-to-back Gamers Galaxy: Dota 2 Invitational titles.

Despite a turbulent start coming into the competition, Indonesian Dota 2 pro team Boom Esports triumphs over fellow Southeast Asian teams in this year's GAMERS GALAXY: Dota 2 Invitational HatYai Thailand.

Boom Esports will be taking home $USD 75,000 after beating fellow SEA powerhouse team Polaris Esports in a best-of-5 grand finals series. Boom Esports defeated Polaris 3-2 in the grand finals. The Indonesian team successfully defended their title as champions of the said Dota 2 LAN tournament.

In 2021, Boom Esports emerged victorious over Tundra Esports in the first edition of the Gamer Galaxy Dota 2 LAN Invitational. The Indonesian crew also won via a 3-2 grand final win last year.

Last August 18, the TI-bound Boom Esports team was defeated by Polaris Esports via a comeback win in the early group stage. In the best-of-one group stage game, Polaris Esports demonstrated a textbook victory over the team heavily favored to win the competition.

In the course of the round-robin group stages, Boom Esports did not suffer any more losses as they dominated their bracket match after match. After qualifying for the grand finals, the Indonesian pro team found themselves in a similar position as last year.

Like a plot going full circle, Boom Esports faced the team that gave them their first loss in the competition. This time, the TI-bound team ensured that Polaris would not bounce back to hand them another defeat.

In the first game, it was a team play showdown for both teams as Polaris and Boom both set up early-game 5-man clashes. Boom Esports dominated the first game by suffocating Polaris Esports' offense by securing objectives early off. Boom's 'Yopaj' dominated the first game with a 10-kill masterpiece.

Meanwhile, it was a completely different story coming into Game 2. Despite leading the game in net worth and kills, Boom Esports suffered another turnaround loss for the next game. Polaris dominated Game 2 by securing a line-up of damage-scaling heroes, which Boom had no answer to come the last minutes of the game.

The results of Game 3 suggested a pattern: the Dire team always wins. At this grand finals stage, we again witnessed some zoo strategy action as Boom esports brought up Chen. Boom gets Game 3. It is now 2-1.

Game 4 is a map-reading exhibition from Polaris Esports. Polaris's excellent ward placement and support play prevented Boom Esports from executing smoke plays. The team brought the series to a Game 5.

In Game 5, the Boom Esports young guns finally claim the victory. Fbz's Mars sustain and initiation was a key turning point to them winning the tiebreaker.

In the awarding ceremony, the team thanked their fans for their support and assured them that they will do better in their next outings. Boom Esports is the first SEA team to qualify for the International in Singapore this year.

GAMERS GALAXY: Dota 2 Invitational HatYai Thailand is one of the final stages of Dota 2 LAN action. In this tournament, Dota 2 teams from Southeast Asia were invited to battle each other for a chance to win the biggest chunk of the $USD 125,000 prize pool.
