Coming into their first group stage match, Polaris Esports were the clear underdogs. The team from the Philippines just came from an 8th place finish at the DPC SEA 2021/2022 Tour 3: Division I and a 1-2 loss to Talon Esports at the ESL One Malaysia 2022 Southeast Asia: Closed Qualifier.

Last June 21, Polaris Esports picked up support 'eyyou' as their new coach. His addition seems to be already taking effect as the team showcased great support plays after support plays in their first group stage match in the Gamers Galaxy HatYai Thailand 2022.

At the 28th minute mark of the said game, it looked like it was just another run-away win by Boom Esports. Despite being within a mile in the lead, Boom Esports failed to push early to capitalize on their gold lead.

This win by Polaris is a textbook victory. The team was always successful in baiting Boom Esports to set up clashes at Tier 2 towers. With their massive lead in net worth, Boom Esports was confident enough to think that they would be able to endure clashes against a Faceless Void that just Time Walks every time to full health.

Polaris was able to execute one bait play after another win their Pangolier, clearing up so much space. This tactic made Boom Esports pop their Black King Bars way too early.

From mid-game to the last minute, Boom Esports' mid-lane is a wound that kept bleeding and bleeding. And Polaris was the tacticians that they are at poking the same lane to total destruction.

Polaris Esports ended the game with a final mid-lane clash that made the Indonesian team succumb to a loss for their first game in the tournament.
