The retired Nintendo exec revealed the unreleased gaming controller during his latest interview with Inverse.

Fils-Aime, who retired from his helm at Nintendo of America last 2019, admits that the newly released Xbox Adaptive Controller three years ago was their "jumping-off point" to produce a universal gaming controller.

Nintendo Universal Controller: How it Works

The former Nintendo exec was generous enough to picture how the unreleased universal controller works.

He put it this way: "Imagine an adaptive controller that you could play with your latest Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo platform."

Fils-Aime went on to confirm that they were working on such an offering when he was still leading the American division of the Japanese gaming giant.

Is Nintendo's Xbox, PlayStation Compatible Controller Releasing Soon?

While the ex-boss of Nintendo of America has disclosed that a universal controller was in the works three years ago, he is unsure whether it is still in progress.

According to a recent report by Game Spot, File-Aime admits that he is not privy to the development of the gaming controller that they started working on three years ago.

However, he shares that he still hopes the project that seeks to produce a controller that works on various platforms is still ongoing.

The retired exec states that his "hope is that controller - and the ability for that controller to connect with all of the various systems - is launched."

He further adds that wishes that it would be "shared with consumers as quickly as possible."

It is worth noting that the Japanese tech firm has yet to officially announce that it is releasing a controller that works with its rival gaming platforms.
