Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3's trade-in credit for those looking to upgrade to the all-new Galaxy Z Flip 4 has been quietly reduced by the South Korean phone maker.
A woman walks past an advertisement for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 and Z Flip smartphones at a Samsung Electronics store in Seoul on October 8, 2020 as the electronics giant flagged a leap of nearly 60 percent in third-quarter operating profits.
The renowned tech giant recently introduced its latest flagship clamshell foldable, the Galaxy Z Flip 4.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 Trade-In Credit for Flip 4 Upgrade Drops
And as such, as per the news story by 9to5 Google, Samsung announced that owners of the older Galaxy Z Flip phone could trade in their devices to upgrade to the all-new Galaxy Z Flip 4.
The phone maker initially announced that the Galaxy Z Flip 3 trade-in credit for a Flip 4 upgrade costs roughly $900. So, users of the former would only have to pay $99 to cop the new clamshell device.
However, it turns out that Samsung quietly updated its website, which dropped the trade-in value of the older Flip by around $200, reducing the credit to only $700.

Although the Z Flip 3 and the new Z Flip 4 look seemingly identical from afar, the two Samsung clamshell foldable are distinct from each other.
The latter, which recently opened its pre-orders, offers refinements, such as new color options, a more powerful processor, and a beefier battery.
According to the latest report by ZDNet, the new clamshell device of the Korean phone maker now flaunts new fancy color options like Bora Purple, Pink Gold, Graphite, and the customizable Bespoke Edition.
But besides the new colors, the Z Flip 4 also runs on a much more powerful processor, the latest flagship from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1. Meanwhile, the 2021 clamshell only comes with the Snapdragon 888.
ZDNet highlights that the new Snapdragon processor is snappier and easier on the battery than what powers the Z Flip 3.
And on top of the more powerful chip, the new Flip also sports a 3,700mAh battery, which slightly bumps up the 3,000 battery of the Z Flip 3. What's more, the Z Flip 4 supports Super Fast Charging, allowing it to top up to roughly 50% in merely half an hour.
The display and cameras are quite the same.
Both phones feature a buttery smooth 120Hz refresh rate 6.7 AMOLED screen. The ultrawide and wide shooters go as high as 12MP, whereas the selfie snapper is still 10MP.
But it is worth noting that the Z Flip 4 raises the price by $100, and it is heavier by four grams than its older sibling.
